It may be that what you are seeing in the Screen Saver list are only the Thumbnail versions of the photos. I do have a new external harddrive and printer and that was part of the reason I was upgrading. I can try to load the pics from the laptop onto the desktop and that will minimize my loss.BUT it is still not OK. The pics are there, tucked away in some corner of computer memory world. 11 Why not on this machine? It was successful on the Macbook Pro? I don't get it. I am no computer geek and only somewhat savvy but my analysis is that the upgrade did not move the data from the old iPhoto and bring it into the new iPhoto. I have tried each of the suggested tips availabe on the MAC. They are still there in the computer but not accessible in the iPhoto library. I can see the photos when I look in the desktop screensaver list, all organized by their files, and I can see them under the Image files organized by their extension. ![]() since I had all the photos on the desktop MAC, I was comfortable doing that. I have imported many newer photos into the same library since early 2019 and edited them successfully, no problems there. Using the Find Any File app I can see the files in the "masters" package and open them with Preview. Trying to export the "unmodified original" results in "The file P1010xxx.jpg couldn't be opened because there is no such file." Duplicating the photo within the Photos app results in a blank thumbnail picture. I can move the sliders back and forth as much as I like, but the image doesn't change. Now going back to the old photos, I can see them in full glory, but cannot edit them - any operation from the edit menu results in no change at all. When I try to export this file from Photos I get an error message that there is no such file. I also found two other files: library/data and library/thumbnails.īoth the latter two (data & thumbnails) are very small files (29 K) but the original is 1.4 M. Next, I read a post suggesting to use the app "Find Any File" (FAF) which I downloaded and it did find the photo that I was attempting to download from my photo library. I did follow instructions and rebuilt the library but that did not solve the problem. I'm unable to export certain photos from my photo library.
